Ruth Smith, 80, of Carthage, passed away on Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2017, in Dallas. Ima Ruth Rollings Smith was born on Jan. 27, 1937, in Boxelder, TX to the late Raymond and Lyshia Baird Rollings. She graduated from Annona High School with the class of 1955, and attended East Texas State University. She married George Ray Smith on March 22, 1958, in Commerce. Mrs. Smith worked as a teacher's aide at Carthage I.S.D. for 29 years until her retirement in 2004. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church where she participated in UMW and Vacation Bible School for many years. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmie Rollings; and great-grandchildren, Cohen Riley LaGrone and Khyler Kruz Saucedo.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, George R. Smith; daughter, Helen Ruth Gibson and husband Ricky; sons, Alan Ray Smith and wife Tracey, and Terry Lynn Smith and wife Robin; grandchildren, Brooke Lipsey and husband Stuart, Brandy LaGrone and husband C.J., Daron Dorsey and wife Jessica, Skye Dorsey, Kristy Saucedo and husband Javii, Garrett Smith and wife Tiffany, Brandon Smith and fiancé Ali, Weston Gibson, and Rance Gibson and wife McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Travis Lipsey, Blayton and Bransyn LaGrone, Jade and Avery Dorsey, Adrian Saucedo, Kirby Jo Gibson, and one on the way.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to caregivers Hazel Williams, Ira Woodard, and Jessie Tatum for the loving care shown to Mrs. Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Wintermute and Tim Gough officiating. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Daron Dorsey, Garrett Smith, Brandon Smith, Weston Gibson, Rance Gibson, C.J. LaGrone, Javii Saucedo, and Stuart Lipsey.

Honorary pallbearers are Adrian Saucedo, Blayton LaGrone, Bransyn LaGrone, and Travis Lipsey.
