Mrs. Ruth Marie Omey McMurtry, age 85, of Carthage, TX, formerly of California, passed away on Thursday night, Aug. 1, 2013, in Carthage. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery, in El Centro, CA. Local arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Ruth Marie Omey McMurtry was born on Sept. 4, 1927, in Orchard, Nebraska to the late Dallas and Amy Lanegan Omey. She graduated from High School in Orchard and later married Raymond Victor McMurtry and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1996. Mrs. McMurtry moved to Carthage in 1997 from California and was a member of the Day of Redemption Church in Gary.

Mrs. McMurtry is survived by two daughters, Gail Diane Paison and husband Sam and Meredith McMurtry all of Carthage, TX; one son, Steven Cornelison and wife Helen of Niland, CA; one sister, Dorothy Minson of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Earl Elkins and wife Penny and Brian Elkins all of Walnut Cove, NC and Pamela Young of Odessa, TX; and three great-grandchildren, Shawna, Shannon, and Sheyenne Young.
