Ruth Elaine Hunt, age 88, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Monday evening, March 10, 2025, in Carthage. She was born on June 29, 1936, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Clarence W. and Abigale Tisdale Warner. Ruth graduated from high school in Mission, Texas with the class of 1954. She earned her Registered Nursing Degree through Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Ruth married Larry Wayne Hunt on August 11, 1961, in Mission and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2022, after almost 61 years together. They traveled extensively between Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana for Larry's work. They moved Carthage in 1978, and later were charter members of New Hope Baptist Church in Gary, Texas. She enjoyed volunteering her time and was a member of the hospice auxiliary and the Panola County Historical and Genealogical Association.  Ruth was also preceded in death by siblings, Carl Warner, Rosie Veazey, and Dave Warner.

She is survived by her son, Greg Hunt (Robin Watson); daughter, Valarie Hunt Endsley (Stephen); siblings, Becky Cedillo and Dan Warner (Betty); grandchildren, Misti Ritter-Webster (Nathan), Amanda Hinkle, April Waite (Nick), Abigale Holly (Hunter Adcock), Rylee Storm, William Endsley (Vanessa), Christopher Endsley, and Eric Endsley; and great-grandchildren, Makaela, Nora, Lane, Hunter, Ripp, Bryson, and Logan.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.

Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Misti, Amanda, April, Abigail, and Rylee.
