Obituary

A funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Jean Tatum Jackson, age 52, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Tabernacle-Shiloh Cemetery near Beckville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Jackson passed away on Thursday night, Sept. 13, 2012, in Tyler.

Ruby Jean Tatum Jackson was born on March 9, 1960, in Panola County, TX to Gus Tatum, Jr. and Jessie Ruth Lister Tatum. Mrs. Jackson graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1975. She married Johnny V. Jackson on Oct. 30, 1976, in Carthage. Mrs. Jackson worked as a private duty sitter for the elderly for many years. She has lived in DeBerry for the past 10 years, moving there from Beckville. Mrs. Jackson loved fishing, canning, helping others, gardening, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Love Temple Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her father and a special niece and nephew, Victoria Hooker and Bradley Wayne Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her mother, Jessie Tatum of Beckville; her husband, Johnny V. Jackson of DeBerry; one son, Johnny V. Jackson, Jr. and wife Christie of DeBerry; one daughter, LaTasha Jackson and companion Justin Williams, Sr. of DeBerry; two brothers, Roy Tatum, Sr. and wife Karen of Holland's Quarters and Gary Tatum of Fair Play; three sisters, Doris Hooker of Beckville, Yolanda Stephney and husband Michael of Beckville, and Aretha Lockett and husband Rodrick of Beckville; and seven grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Howard Lewis, Roderick Lockett, Richard Arvella, Scott Somar, John Allison, and Brandon Eaves.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jakeldric Jackson, Trey Jackson, Larry Allison, Tyrone Allison, Anthony Allison, Roy Tatum, Jr., Roderick Allison, Gary Tatum, Jr., Stevie Hooker, Jr., and Napoleon Lockett.
