A funeral service for Ruby Smith, 77, of Carthage, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Pierce Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 6, 2015, in Carthage.

Ruby Ann Ross "Aunt Ruby" Smith was born on April 27, 1938, in Beckville to the late Arthur Mono and Cora Etta "Nettie" Pierce Ross. She attended Beckville schools. Ruby married Ralph Donald Smith on Aug. 11, 1979, in Carthage and he preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1999. Mrs. Smith lived her lifetime in Panola County. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ray Ross, Raphel Ross, Ralph Ross, Raymond Ross, Joy Fay Ross, Margie Ross Blair, and Roy Ross.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her special nieces, Kim Holcomb and husband Mitch of Carthage and Kathy Kirkland and husband Todd of DeBerry; special grand-nieces and nephews, Holdon and Hampton Holcomb, Kirsten Eddins, and Kinsley and Bodie Kirkland; niece and nephews, Douglas Ross, Shirley Clute, and Ronnie Ross; and numerous extended family and friends.

Pallbearers are Mitch Holcomb, Holdon Holcomb, Hampton Holcomb, Todd Kirkland, Kenny Ross, and Raymond Ross.

Honorary pallbearers are Douglas Ross and Bodie Kirkland.
