Ruby Grimes, 92, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2019, in Carthage. Ruby Faye Wroten Grimes was born on Aug. 19, 1926, in Carthage to the late Clarence Carlton and Mary Lois Allums Wroten. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1944, and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She married Billy Haltmar Grimes on July 27, 1949, in Carthage, and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2004. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Dick Wroten and her sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Troy Harris.

She is survived by her sons, Phillip H. Grimes and wife Cynthia and Steve W. Grimes all of Carthage; granddaughter Catherine Grimes Wilson and husband Ben of Dallas; great-grandchildren, namesake Ruby English Wilson and Benjamin Harris Wilson, Jr.; a niece; five nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Ruby was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her love of God, dedication to her family and her generosity. Friends and family of Ruby will miss her home cooked meals, hospitality and frequent phone calls.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Leah Morales and Kevin Otto officiating.  Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive from 9:30 – 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Cliff Todd, Olin Joffrion, William Goolsby, Pat Browning, Sidney Burns, Maury Hudson, Kabot Baker and Frank Willis.
