Ruby Jean Brown, 77, of Carthage, passed away on Friday night, May 25, 2018, in Carthage. She was born on Nov. 23, 1940, to the late Lizzie Mae Smith Davis and Carzie Brown. Ms. Brown attended Turner School where she graduated from High School with the class of 1961. She joined the church at an early age where she enjoyed singing in the choir and ushering. She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Carthage until her health failed. Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and great-nephew, D'Angelo Beck.

Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Earnestine Beck and husband Lewis, Sr. of California; nephews, Lewis Beck, Jr. and wife Savannia of Carthage, Anthony Beck and wife Jeannice, and Chris Beck and wife Angie; niece, Denise Beck all of California; God-sister, Lessie Stepter of California; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Deadwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Freddy Wallace, Jr., Orlando Beck, Anthony Beck, Jr., Bradford Beck, Chris Beck, and Lewis Beck, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Beck, Sr., Anthony Beck, Sr., Freddy Wallace, Sr., Charles Morgan, and Gregory Smith.
