Roy Briery, 67, of Beckville, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 6, 2019, at his home in Beckville. Roy Glenn Briery was born on Jan. 2, 1952, in Carthage, TX to the late Roy Allen and Grace Soape Briery. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1970. Roy began working in the oilfield and then began working for H.B. Zachary during the construction phase of the Martin Lake Power Plant. He later transitioned into working for Texas Utilities which is now Luminant where he worked as a mechanic and maintenance technician for the past 39 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and watching rodeos. Roy married Shela Kay Hightower on May 22, 1998, in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Briery.

Survivors include his wife, Shela Briery of Beckville; children, Dana Pierce and husband Jay of Bullard, Joey Briery of Fairfield, Ashley Cleveland and husband Nathan of Tatum, and Justin Wright and wife Marquisia of Beckville; brother, Dale Briery and wife Sissy of Gary; sister, Gale Duncan of Alton, IL; sister-in-law, Gwen Briery of Beckville; brother-in-law, Rickey Hightower of Beckville  grandchildren, Peyton Pierce, Jace Tanner Pierce, Eli Pierce, Seth Cleveland, Hannah Cleveland, Nicholas Wright, and Lily Wright; and great-grandchildren, Greyson and Aubree. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chris Baldobino, Eric Pellham, Justin Youngblood, Mike Sheedy, Lance Youngblood, Logan Youngblood, and Michael Williford.
