IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose
Palka
January 16, 1934 – May 23, 2025
Rose Hrotko Palka, born on January 16, 1934, was sent to her eternal home on May 23, 2025, in Carthage, TX at the age of 91.
Rose was born in New York City where she grew up. Later on she met Robert Palka, marrying on Feb 21, 1954. During this time, she lived in many places while starting and raising a family. From as far as South Dakota to Japan and even Alexandria, LA, eventually settling in Shreveport where she made her home with her family. In her later years, she took annual trips to Corpus Christi and Padre Island where she enjoyed unlimited hours of fishing in the Gulf, catching anything from Flounder to Trout and Marlin.
Rose enjoyed many hobbies in her time, from sewing to ceramics to crocheting. She provided crocheted hats to premature babies at the local hospital and was crocheting even after starting to lose her eyesight, she never slowed down. She had a passion for classic films with "Singing In The Rain" being her absolute favorite.
Rose spent a good amount of her time at her local senior center, finding joy with those who shared her passion for clogging, line dancing and working in the cafeteria, providing meals to those in need.
She took an active role in her grandchildren's lives by taking them to Hamels in Shreveport and teaching them how to fish at Lake Murvaul. She loved to spend time at the movies with them, often sneaking pre-popped popcorn and candy in, and during visits over, having pizza and ice cream for breakfast. She would spend summers taking them to the Home Depot Kids Workshops, always displaying the works in her home.
Rose is survived and missed by her children, Patricia Beasley and Robert Palka; and her brother, Frank Hrotko. She is forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Jennifer Spann Campbell, Jamie Spann, Randy Palka, Michelle Spann, Elizabeth Beasley, John and Joseph McKinzie; her great grandchildren Bridget Hoover, Aaron Spann, Chelsea Taylor, Clayton Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Courtney Spann, Camron Campbell, Karl Warren, Mia Palka, Ian Palka, Ethan McKinzie, Lily Kies, Aubrey McKinzie, Avery McKinzie; and great, great grandchildren Madison Hoover, Keagen Hoover, Hudson Taylor, Brooks Campbell, Allison Campbell and Holden Taylor.
Rose was predeceased by her mother, Roza Kremen Hrotko and father, Franke Hrotko; her brothers, John and William Hrotko. She was also predeceased by her husband, Robert Palka and daughters, Roseann Spann and Diane McKinzie.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to those who were there for us at the time of her passing. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the Winkler House Staff and Accent Care for doing everything they could to make her final moment peaceful.
