Mr. Roger C. Stone, age 78, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, December 21, 2013, in Tyler, Texas. There are no services scheduled. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Roger Clare Stone was born April 24, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Herbert and Ruth Clare Stone. He served his country in the U. S. Army and later worked as a manager in the chemical and hotel industries. He married Betty Ann Soape Reed on November 29, 1981, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2008. He lived in Panola County since the mid-1990s, moving from Longview, Texas. Mr. Stone loved animals, rescuing and caring for many stray dogs that crossed his path.

Mr. Stone is survived by a sister, Sally Nemeth of Michigan; two brothers, Michael Stone of Houston, Texas and Timothy Stone of Michigan; a son, Robert J. Stone of Missouri; two step-daughters, Janet Reed of Austin, Texas and Anita Moore of Kountze, Texas; two step-grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Moore; 10 cousins; 10 nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
