Services will be held for Roger Dale Soape on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. Services will be lead by Reagan Cooksey. Interment will be held following service at 3:30 p.m. in Antioch Cemetery in Carthage, Texas. Family received friends Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Local arrangments are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Roger went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2013 after fighting a long hard fight with illness he no longer suffers with.
Roger graduated in 1972 from Carthage High School. He worked for Champion International in Lufkin, Texas for 18 years. He began working for San Jacinto County as a Motor Grader Operator in 1997. He was a hard, dedicated employee for 17 years.
Roger "Big Daddy" was loved dearly by family and friends and will be greatly missed. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Hazel Marie Soape; and brother, Charles Soape.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Soape of Huntsville, Texas; son, Brandon Golden and wife, Jodie, of Spurger, Texas; daughter, Megan Linder and husband, Nathan, of Huntsville, Texas; four granddaughters, McKenzie Golden, Caitlynn Golden, Kennedy Golden, and Carrington Golden of Spurger, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Daniels of Splendora, Texas; brother, Jerry Soape of Doyline, LA; sister, Wanda Langford of Longview Texas; and brother, Richard Soape of Huntsville, Texas, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with Rodney Weaver, his lifelong best friend and brother from Carthage, Texas.
Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His friends spoke highly of him and enjoyed his company. His love and laughter will be missed by all.
