Obituary

Rogelio V. Gonzalez, 75, of Tatum, TX, passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 1, 2021, in Tyler, TX. Rogelio Villastrigo Gonzalez was born on Oct. 9, 1945, in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico to the late Francisco Gonzalez and Catalina Villastrigo. He married Bertha Alicia Perez on June 10, 1962, in Monclova. Rogelio worked in construction for H.B. Zachary for over 35 years before his retirement. He enjoyed volunteering at Mission Carthage food distribution events and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Rogelio moved to Tatum in 1975, from San Antonio and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Tatum. He was preceded in death by five siblings and a granddaughter, Aleacia Hocutt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bertha Gonzalez; children, Joe Gonzalez, Cathy York and husband Bubba, Roger Gonzalez, Mary Gonzalez, and Leo Gonzalez and wife Susan all of Tatum; sister-in-law, Silvia Gonzalez of Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow in Tatum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Danny Joe Hocutt, Brandon York, Joe Isaac Gonzalez, Justin Greene, Kristopher Irish, and Tavis Leake II.
