Rod Sharpe, 68, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday evening, Nov. 22, 2018, in Carthage. Rodney Andrew "Rod" Sharpe was born on July 21, 1950, in Longview to the late Andrew Clifton "Andy" and Nima Joyce Wheeler Sharpe. Rod graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1968. He was the owner and operator of Sharpe Electric in Carthage. Rod was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 and Sharon Temple Shrine. He served on the Panola County Go Texan Committee and served as a board member on the Panola Fresh Water District. Through his life he enjoyed many hobbies including flying, drag racing, golf, motorcycles, and scuba diving. He lived his lifetime in Carthage and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kevin Sharpe.

Survivors include his children Debbie Burson and husband Larry and Bo Sharpe and wife Brandi; sister, Toni Clements and husband Charlie; brother, Patrick Sharpe and wife LeeAnne; sister-in-law, Deborah Sharpe Holcomb; and grandchildren, Matthew Burson and Kassi and Kaylynn Sharpe. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

A Masonic funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Restland Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Matthew Burson, Kolbey Sharpe, Kory Sharpe, Lawson Sharpe, and Chris Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Clements, Tim Boone, and Dr. Dale Reed.
