Robert Wayne Downs, 71, of Tatum, Texas, passed away on Sunday morning, July 25, 2021, in Carthage, Texas. He was born on December 15, 1949, in Harris County, Texas to the late Robert Lee and Myrna Lee Norris Downs. He graduated from Carthage High School and served his country as a U.S. Marine. Mr. Downs has lived in the Lake Cherokee and Tatum areas most of his lifetime. He worked for many years in the oil field, pipeline, and sanitation businesses until his retirement. Mr. Downs enjoyed working outside and tending to his cows. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

Mr. Downs is survived by his son, Kyle Downs and wife Cherry of Tatum; daughter, Amy Downs of Tatum; brother, Larry Downs and wife Marsha of Timpson; and grandchildren, Brody and Brynn Downs.

The family will celebrate the life of Mr. Downs beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the home of Kyle and Cherry Downs outside of Tatum. Cremation arrangements are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
