Obituary

Robert Frazier Deason, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2023, at the age of 94. His loving daughters were by his side until his last breath. His life was a testament to the values he held dear - a life filled with love, dedication, and faith.

Born on September 6, 1928, in Bethany, Louisiana, to Henry Lee Deason and Ina Lee Rich, it was here that he learned the importance of hard work and family. From a very young age he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to those he loved, a trait that would define his entire existence.

Bob's dedication was most evident in his role as a provider for his family. Through years of tireless effort and determination, he worked diligently to ensure that his wife and daughters had every opportunity to succeed. His sacrifices and perseverance set a shining example for generations to come. During his early years, oil and gas pipelining supported his family until he took a position in Houston for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation as Manager for Purchasing and Material Control. Having a very long and successful career, he chose to retire at the age of fifty-seven. This allowed him to enjoy his favorite hobby, working the land he owned in East Texas along with his father Henry Lee. Together they raised cattle and eventually began to grow pine trees as this was his true passion. The purpose for this was to ensure that all his and Rose Mary's grandchildren would have the financial support towards a level of higher education. Better known as "Gunka" to all his grandchildren, he loved every one of them with all his heart. His dream was to ensure that they would have the support needed for a successful life.

Rose Mary was his greatest joy in life. They shared a sixty-seven year bond that was an inspiration to all who witnessed it. Together they built a marriage based on a strong foundation worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. As he embarked on his final journey, he found solace in reuniting with his beloved Rose Mary in Heaven. There is no doubt, she was waiting with that gorgeous smile, rosy cheeks, and a plate of his favorite Sicilian gravy and fried chicken.

Robert is survived by his sister, Ventriss Payne; daughters, Deborah Nabors and Cynthis Reese (Ray); grandchildren, Daniel Nabors (Alyssa), Kevin Nabors (Danica), Desiree Springer (Grant), Micah Reese (Leigh), and Jennifer Barnes (Jim); great-grandchildren, Tanner and Jacey Nabors, Gavin and Quinnley Nabors, Preston and Hudson Springer, Asher and Ava Reese, and Jamie and Will Barnes; and caregivers, Maria and Eduardo Lopez

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Damon Shook Residency Program in honor of Bob Deason. Let us remember him with fondness and gratitude for the beautiful man that he was. He has found eternal peace with his Lord and Savior.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Centennial Cemetery in DeBerry, Texas.
