A funeral service for Mr. Robert Samuel "Bo" Parten, age 83, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home with Bro. John Ulrich officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Mr. Parten passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 11, 2012, in Longview. Service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Robert Samuel "Bo" Parten was born on Feb. 7, 1929, in Sweeny, TX to Cecil Ray and Beatrice Dorrill Parten. He graduated from Sweeny High School with the class of 1946. He married Bessie Parten in 1974, in Puerto Rico and she preceded him in death. He worked for Phillips Petroleum as a plant supervisor until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Parten was a member of the Gideon's International. He moved to Carthage in 2005, from Sweeny and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Carthage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steve Parten and Mark Parten; two sisters, Margie Theis and Sarah Hannah; two brothers, George Dorrill Parten and Cecil Marrion Parten; and one grandson, Michael Lockeby.

Mr. Parten is survived by two daughters, Sharon Perry of Apache Junction, AZ and Karen Harmon of Ft. Pierce, FL; step-daughter, Paula Ducroz of Redwater; one sister, Frances P. Nixon of Carthage; eight grandchildren, including local granddaughters, Shanna Wilsford McKelvey and Brigette Wilsford both of Longview; five great-grandchildren; special nephew, Drew Nixon of Carthage; special niece, Bunny Matura of Bay City; and special cousin, Gary Winscott of Sweeny. Numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Parten.
