Robby Smith, 72, of Tyler, TX formerly of Carthage, TX passed away on Thursday morning, Jan. 9, 2020, in Tyler. Robert Allen "Robby" Smith was born on Dec. 5, 1947, in San Antonio to the late Dr. William Cecil "W.C." and Margaret Eugenia Gill Smith. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1966. He earned a BBA from Baylor University in 1970. Robby worked in the farm and ranching business his whole life and was also employed in the banking industry for a number of years. Robby was a member of Still Waters Cowboy Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Reid.

Robby served the community in several different capacities. He served as president of the Carthage ISD school board, was a member of the Carthage Noon Lions Club, Panola County Cattleman's Association, Panola County Junior Livestock Show, and ringleader of the Beef Bunch. He enjoyed his hunting trips, playing forty-two, and talking cattle with his buddies; however, his first priority was God and then his family. He adored Joy, his sons & daughters-in-law, and his precious grandchildren, who lovingly called him Popsy. His family never doubted they were loved.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Smith of Tyler; sons, Shannon Smith and wife Michelle of Tyler and Brandon Smith and wife Brandy of Bullard; brother, Jamey Smith and wife Carol of Kingwood; sisters, Carolyn Reid of Montgomery and Elizabeth Yarborough and husband Guy of Nacogdoches; and grandchildren, Emma Claire Smith, Abigail Rose Smith, Hannah Smith, Caroline Smith, Sarah Smith, and Austin Lane Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Comer officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are James Browning, Pat Jones, Bobby Kolenovsky, Doug McKinney, Steve Milhauser, J.P. Mills, Corey Turner, and Jody Wedgeworth.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Andrick, David Bush, Tommy Ishee, Mike Parker, and Morgan Rabon.
