A visitation for Mr. Richard Harold Walton, Sr., age 77, of Carthage, TX, will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. At 7 p.m., some words of comfort will be shared by Pastor Aaron Bequette. Mr. Walton passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2012, in Marshall, TX. Service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Richard Harold Walton, Sr. was born on May 19, 1935, in Coshocton, OH to Charlie and Alice Louise Mathany Walton. Mr. Walton graduated from Coshocton High School with the class of 1953. He earned his bachelor's degree in law enforcement in Ohio. Mr. Walton served his country in the U.S. Army Special Forces and was honorably discharged. He worked in law enforcement mostly in the drug and narcotics division in Ohio for over 25 years until his retirement. He moved to Carthage in 2005, from Silsbee, TX. Mr. Walton also worked as a security guard at many businesses including banks and Louisiana Pacific and also as a consultant to local law enforcement. He married JoElla Epperley Walton on Apr. 30, 2012, in Carthage. Mr. Walton was of the Baptist faith. He attended Northside Christian Center in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Richard Harold Walton, Jr.
Mr. Walton is survived by his wife, JoElla Walton of Carthage; three daughters, Alice, Donna, and Tanya Sue; step-children, Michael Davidson, Theresa Lynn Griffis, and David, Wayne, and Randy George. Numerous grandchildren also survive Mr. Walton.
