Richard Worn Gibson, 88, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 30, 2021, in Carthage. He was born on Feb. 5, 1933, in Hallsville, TX to the late Clarence Herman and Mollie Sue Waldron Gibson. He served in the U.S. Army during Korea. Richard worked for many years as a welder for Trailmobile until his retirement. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Gay Gibson and siblings, Joe Gibson, Jeannette Wolfe, Iva Bell Winchester, Judy Brunson, and Marlin Gibson.

He is survived by his children, Ricky Gibson and wife Helen of Carthage and Gay Lynn Garrett and husband Kevin of Troup; siblings, Nelma Owens and husband Doyle of Panama City, FL and Tom Gibson and wife June of Gilmer; sisters-in-law, Nell Gibson and Dorothy Gibson; brother-in-law, Hal Brunson; grandchildren, Brooke Lipsey, Daron Dorsey, Skye Dorsey, Weston Gibson, Rance Gibson, Ashlyn Garrett, Cheyenna Garrett, and Jake Garrett; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Gum Springs Cemetery in Longview with Dr. Kirby Hill officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
