Weign was born in the Scruggs community, near Beckville, TX, on April 22, 1930. He was saved, married and still attended New Prospect Church in Beckville. He was a deacon and loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. The thing that all who new him will miss, is hearing him pray. There is such peace in knowing that he is now having a conversation with this Lord in person. He never met a stranger, and loved just walking up to people and starting a conversation and making an instant friend. He was the most optimistic person that you could meet. When told that he had incurable cancer, he sang "Que Sera Sera" to his son. On November 2, 1952, he married the love of his life, Wanda Davidson, and was married to his, "Lil' Hunka Sugar" for 57 years. They had four sons, eight grand children, and three great-grand children. His vacations were spent visiting friends and family. His weekends were filled with taking his children fishing, hunting, and showing them how to appreciate the beauty of God's creation. Born during the Great
Depression, he was later forced to quit school after the 8th grade to support his family. He worked over 30 years for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, where he was promoted to Plant Foreman in 1979, and retired in 1984. While working for NGPL, he attended Hillsdale College and had a constant thirst for knowledge. He loved to read, watch old westerns, garden, 'piddle' in his garage, and spend countless hours walking the land where he was born and raised. He woke every morning at 3 a.m. and would work until late in the evening until he was 79. He never had a lazy bone in his body. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was a disabled veteran, and was proud to have served his
country. Raised a Mason in 1959, he became a Master of the Lodge for Beckville Lodge #922, received his 50 year pin, and was awarded the Golden Trowel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Davidson Brevard; his four children, Danny Brevard and his wife, Shana Brevard of Pollock, TX, along with their children Eric and David; Kenny Brevard and his wife, Linda Brevard, of Hallsville, TX, along with his children Tiffany, Amy, and Christy; Larry Brevard and his wife, Melinda Brevard, of Hudson, TX, along with their children Matthew, Katie, and Kelli; Paul Brevard and his wife, Amber Brevard, of Beckville, TX. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Allums, his sister Marie Wyatt, and spouse Lonnie Wyatt. He is also survived by three great-grand children and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and as his recent 80th birthday proved, hundreds of friends. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Weign Brevard, Sr., mother, Ava Ruth Adams Brevard, and brother, Maxie Ray Brevard.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Brevard, Paul Brevard, Frank Allums, Wade Allums, Jerry Waldon, and Kyle Waldon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Leo Raines, EJ Adams, Charlie Singletary, Gay Harris, Phelix Martin, and Weign's brothers of Beckville Lodge #922.
