Funeral services for Mrs. Marcy Ellen Pollard, age 70 years of Carthage, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Reverends Macky Buchanan and Carol Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Pollard passed away on February 16, 2006 in Longview.
Marcy Ellen Wallace was born on March 2, 1935 in Verda, LA to Thomas Preston and Beulah Bernice Rawlins Wallace. Marcy married John Edward Pollard on June 7, 1954 in Natchitoches, LA. She was a graduate of Verda High School in Grant Parish Louisiana. Marcy attended Northwestern State University and received an associate degree from Panola College.
Mrs. Pollard was of the Methodist faith and went on to become a Methodist Lay Pastor having attained her license to preach at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas. She attended the summer study program at Perkins Seminary at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She served as interim pastor at Woods United Methodist Church and then as pastor of First United Methodist Church of Waskom. Mrs. Pollard served as a pulpit supply as needed. She was always herself, a very giving person, loved people, and was loved by many. If you knew Marcy, you loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 23, 1991, and her brother, James Thomas Wallace.
Mrs. Pollard is survived by her son, John E. Pollard, Jr. and wife Sherry of Longview; sister, Dr. June Wallace Dyson of Ruston; two grandchildren, Jamie Michele Sharp and husband Kevin of Longview and John E. Pollard, III of Longview; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Freeman and Morgan Sharp of Longview; sister-in-law, Mary E. Wallace of Bossier City; three nieces, Cindy Rickert, Susan Warren, and Karen Dyson Taylor; two nephews, James Wallace and Alan Dyson, and numerous cousins and dear friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Jack Fox, Alan Fox, Cliff Townsend, Johnny Majors, Frank Cain, and Felix Garrison. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Teammates Sunday School Class.
