Renita Ann Briggs, 60, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in Tyler, Texas.  She was born in Carthage, on May 18, 1961, to Beauford "Sonny" Booty, Jr. and Alyce Henderson Booty.  Renita graduated with the Carthage High School class of 1979.  She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Carthage. She married Roy Lee Briggs on September 8, 1979, in Carthage. Renita worked for CISD for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Beauford "Sonny" Booty, Jr.; infant granddaughter, Kaleigh Briggs; sister-in-law, Jerlene Briggs; and mother-in-law, Verlene Briggs.

She is survived by her mother, Alyce Booty of Carthage; husband, Roy Lee Briggs of Carthage; children, Kris Briggs and wife Katrina of Forney and Kivea Smith and husband John of Carthage; siblings, Benita Wright and husband Davy of Temple and Gerald Booty and Sandra Robinson both of Carthage; nieces and nephews, Christie Jackson,   Davion Wright, Kristanae Wright, Jarrod Booty, Rynon Robinson, Shanidra Hooker, Ferronica Briggs, Kayuse Briggs, Kelton Sanders, and Amber Allison; grandchildren, Kennedi Briggs, Dylan Briggs, Kamden Briggs, Kade Briggs, and Bryce Briggs; sisters-in-law, Diane Briggs, Annette Randolph and husband Rodney, Hazel Jones, Virginia Sanders, Brenda Williams, and Gail Matlock; and brother-in-law, David Williams. Numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Briggs.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral Home.

Pallbearers are David Williams, Bobby Jackson, Chris Bowman, Alfred Brown, Freddy Castleberry, and Kemmy Henderson.
