Rebecca Mallett, 70, of Bayfield CO, passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 4, 2022, in Durango, CO. Rebecca Cecelia Nicholson was born on Aug. 17, 1951, in Austin, TX to the late Reuben Clifford "R.C." and Gladys Eugenia Carlson Nicholson. She graduated from high school in Houston, TX in 1969, and attended the University of Houston. Rebecca moved to Durango from Houston in 1973. She married Richard Wayne Mallett on Aug. 9, 1979, in Durango.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Richard Mallett; sons, Sam and Ryan Mallett all of Bayfield, CO; brother, Billy Nicholson of Gary, TX; nephews, Brent and Travis Nicholson and John Henry Jolley; and nieces, Penny Jolley, Macie and Kiley Jolley;

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Boynton Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Otto officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Brent Nicholson, Sam Mallett, Ryan Mallett, Travis Nicholson, John Henry Jolley, and Richard Mallett.
