Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Burgess, age 49, of Beckville, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bruce Will officiating. Interment will follow in New Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Burgess passed away on Monday morning, April 20, 2009, in Longview, Texas.

Rebecca E. "Becky" Burgess was born on May 16, 1959 in Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview with the class of 1977. She married Neal Allen Burgess on July 1, 1995. Mrs. Burgess was an avid Beckville Bearcats Football fan and she loved caring and taking in stray animals. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Grand Bluff Baptist Church. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her father, Bob Hitchcock.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by her husband, Neal Burgess of Beckville; her mother, Joyce Hitchcock of Liberty City; two sons, Greg and Mark Smith both of Beckville; one brother, Cliff Hitchcock of Liberty City; and one sister, Rhonda Dixon and husband Rick of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Burgess.

Serving as pallbearers are Ralph Sattazahn, Barry Haden, Michael Kerr, Larry Craig, Shane Clapper, and Charlie Walden.

The family would like to the thank Good Shepherd Medical Center I.C.U., Oncology, and Emergency Staff as well as Dr. Larry Frase and the Longview Cancer Center for all of the loving care shown to Mrs. Burgess during her illness.
