Funeral services for Mr. Ray Walton, age 50, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sherman Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Deadwood. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Walton passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 7, 2009, in Longview.

Ray Walton was born on June 26, 1958, in Panola County, TX to Alex and Iree Smith Walton. He attended Eastside Elementary in DeBerry and Carthage schools. He worked in the cement construction business. He was a member of St. Rest Baptist Church in DeBerry. Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his father and one brother, M.T. Walton.

Mr. Walton is survived by his mother, Iree Walton of DeBerry; special friend, Barbara Maldonado of Longview; one son, Alex Gilder and wife Cynthia of Dallas; one daughter, Taniesha Bell and husband Original of Dallas; two brothers, Alex Walton, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Dallas and Freddie Carl Walton and wife Mary of Dallas; six sisters, Ruth Beck and husband Leon of DeBerry, Betty Jones of Longview, Mildred Brooks and husband Jim of DeBerry, Darcie McCann and husband Curtis of DeBerry, Gurthy Moore and husband Bill of Dallas, and Claudia Guffin of Dallas; sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Walton of Dallas; and two grandchildren, Alexya King and Savannah Gilder both of Dallas.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Brooks, Charles Jones, Jr., Brian Jones, DaMarcus Delaney, Ronnie Walton, D.K. Calloway, Alton Delaney and Lonnie Williams. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Danny Joe Walton, Jacobian Beck, Jamario Delaney, Fredrick Beck, Hillory Frierson, James Smith, Ken Ballard and Dale Ballard.
