Obituary

Bobby Ray Stanley, Jr., 61, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in Dallas. Born March 3, 1961, to Martha Jane Walker Stanley and the late Bobby Ray Stanley, Sr., Ray attended Carthage schools, graduating with the CHS Class of 1979. While at CHS, he played football, and, after graduation, attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he played on the SFA Lumberjack football team. He began his career with Eastman Chemical Company in 1981, retiring from the company in 2013 after 32 years. Three years later, he returned to Eastman as a safety consultant, retiring from that position in 2020.

Ray earned his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, serving in this role in Eastman's Safety Department as part of the fire-fighting team. Ray was a dedicated member of the Eastman Chemical Company family and made many lifelong friends during his career. It was at Eastman where Ray met the love of his life, his wife Sandi Stanley.

As the father of twin sons, Ray spent many long hours at the Carthage Baseball Complex. He coached Dixie League teams and select baseball teams, traveling all over Texas and the rest of the country as a coach and supporter. One of the thrills of his life was watching Crispin and Cameron play on the Carthage Bulldog Baseball team that won the state championship in 2009. Ray's greatest joy was his family and spending time with them at the ballpark, playing golf, fishing, working out and enjoying time together at the family's Sunset Ranch.

Ray was a lifelong member of Carthage First United Methodist Church.
