A funeral service for Ravinell "Rat" Capps, 84, of the Antioch Community will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Capps passed away on Wednesday morning, May 28, 2014, at his home.
Ravinell "Rat" Capps was born on Apr. 18, 1930, in Carthage, TX, to the late R.V. and Stassie Haynie Capps. He attended Carthage schools. Mr. Capps married Betty M. Capps and she preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1995. Mr. Capps worked for the Texas Highway Department for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Capps lived his lifetime in Panola County and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Earl Dean Capps.
Mr. Capps is survived by two sons, Mike Capps and wife Phyllis of Carthage and Ricky McCullough of Pearland; one sister, Vallie Ruth Carrico of Dubach, LA; four grandchildren, Shane Capps and wife Crystal, Misty Capps Ladymon and husband Casey, and Bert and Mark McCullough; seven great-grandchildren, Alli and Gunner Capps, Lexi, Dax, and Knox Ladymon, and Gregory and Chloe McCullough; and special caregivers, Lola Allison, Nella Johnson, Vera Roberts, Tynia Nelson, Ann Owens, and Jimmie Faye Smith.
Serving as pallbearers are Casey Ladymon, Sammy Peace, Dwain Peace, Shane Hartless, Bill Peace, Dale Jones, and Shane Capps.
