A funeral service for Ralph Norsworhy, 65, of Carthage, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Norsworthy passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 19, 2014, at his home in Carthage.
Ralph Weldon Norsworthy was born on July 26, 1949, in Shreveport to the late Beverly Darby Norsworthy and Archie Mae McClain Norsworthy. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1967. Ralph then served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He attended Panola College and then completed his education at the DPS Academy. Ralph served as a DPS officer in the East Texas area for over 26 years from 1973 until his retirement in 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ed Norsworthy.
Mr. Norsworthy is survived by his wife, Susan Norsworthy of Carthage; two daughters, Rachel Wilson and husband Calvin and Leigh Welk and husband Chris all of Carthage; one brother, Mike Norsworthy of Carthage; one sister, Sally Brewer of Longview; brothers-in-law, Tom and Sara Escoe and Kent and Pam Escoe all of Tyler, and Chad Escoe of Austin; and six grandchildren, Bryson, Kade, Hayden, Lane, Alex, and Alyssa.
Serving as pallbearers are David Jeter, Frank Langley, Joe Mims, Hilton Poindexter, Jr., Brad Chappell, and David Tompkins.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Hilton Poindexter, Sr. and Snoot McGuire.
