A funeral service for Rachel W. Kiper, 90, of Antioch, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel Bro. Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kiper passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 4, 2014, at her home.
Rachel Williams Kiper was born on Dec. 28, 1923, in Shelby County to the late Reese Joshua and Nettie Taylor Williams. She married Audra Thomas Kiper on Apr. 25, 1944, in Selma, AL. Mrs. Kiper was an excellent seamstress. She moved to the area in 1952, from Leitchfield, KY and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Kiper was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jonathon Kiper.
Mrs. Kiper is survived by her husband of 71 years, A.T. Kiper of Antioch; four sons, William Kiper and wife Sherry of Carthage, Dale Kiper and wife Carol of Columbus, CA, Lanny Ray Kiper and wife Mary Sue of Carthage, and Danny Ray Kiper of Carthage; three daughters, Rachel Bond and husband Jimmy of DeRidder, Frances Waddle and husband Jerry of Overton, and Robin Downing of Joshua; one sister, Mary Langford of Carthage; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Clements, Bruce Maines, Elton Weems, Holland Dickey, Carl Anderson, and Joey Brinkman.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Earl Spurgeon and Joe Ben Wooten.
