A memorial service for Mr. R. E. Stone, age 55, of Kilgore, TX, formerly of Beckville, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. A private inurnment will follow at a later date at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Hooks, TX. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Mr. Stone went to be with his Lord on Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2012, in Shreveport, LA.

R. E. "Rock" Stone was born on March 30, 1956, in Hughes, Ark to the late Joseph Levi and Dessie May Johnson Stone. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1971-1975, at which time he was honorably discharged. He married Glenda Lou Watson on Oct. 1, 1976, in West Memphis, Ark. Mr. Stone worked at TXU in Beckville until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Stone leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Glenda Watson Stone of Kilgore; one son, P.J. Stone and wife Gina of Kilgore; one daughter, Dawn Leslie and her husband Heath of Longview; eight grandchildren, Corey, Lesli, Dakota, Allen, Huston, Kaylee Rose, Michael, and Trey; two great-grandchildren, Drayson and Haylen; two sisters, Carolyn Johns and husband Johnny of Burien, WA and Janet Deen and husband Binky of Windsor, SC; and a sister-in-law, Mary Stone of Humboldt, TN. He cherished Glenda's family as his own and leaves behind Carolyn and Randale Crowder and Lyle and Becky Watson all of Hooks, TX and Debra and Dink Nicholas of Pritchett, TX. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Stone.
