A graveside service for Mr. Prentis Smith, age 83, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Miller Cemetery in the Buncombe Community of Panola County, TX with Bro. Carl Anderson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. His body will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Smith passed away on Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, 2013, in Henderson, TX.

Prentis Smith was born on March 31, 1929, in Jasper, TX to John and Ethel Smith. He worked in his earlier years as a concrete finishing contractor in New Orleans, Beaumont, and Houston and later for Anderson Concrete in Carthage until his retirement. He moved to Carthage in 1963, from Jasper, TX and was member of the Buncombe Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith is survived by his step-daughter, Carolyn Mickelson of Austin; three step-grandchildren, Trish Duffey, Russell Mickelson, and John Mickelson; and six step-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mr. Smith.
