Funeral services for Mr. John L. "Pete" Woods, age 66 years of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Freddy Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Woods passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in Carthage, Texas.
John Larry "Pete" Woods was born on October 4, 1939 in Panola County, Texas to John Melvin "Pete" Woods and Ruby Juanita Hayden Woods. Mr. Woods married Virginia Paul on September 16, 1956 in Center, Texas. He was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 A.F. & A.M., the Sharon Shrine Temple, and Waco Scottish Rite Bodies. Mr. Woods enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and working in the outdoors. He loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his family dearly. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Woods of Carthage; daughter, Tresa Joffrion and husband Olin of Carthage; sister, Ada Lee Hudson and husband Herb of Carthage; two grandchildren, Kathleen Malone and husband Trent of Carthage and Blake Joffrion and wife Gentri of College Station; two great-grandchildren, Avery Malone of Carthage and Camden Joffrion of College Station.
Serving as pallbearers are Blake Joffrion, Olin Joffrion, Trent Malone, Cooper McLean, Charles Edward McLean, and Randy Hudson.
