Funeral services for Mr. Perman Hicks, age 87 of Beckville, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Beckville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Hicks passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 in Carthage.
Perman Hicks was born on July 17, 1920 in Panola County, Texas to Ralton and Emma Williams Hicks. Mr. Hicks received his education in Panola County and married Anita Smith in 1943. To this union five children where born. Mr. Hicks left Panola County in 1947 moving to Tacoma, Washington where he worked in construction. He moved back to Panola County in 1987. Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, William "Bill" Perman Hicks, Jr. and Alvin Darnell Hicks who both passed away on June 12, 1988; and one brother, Neal Hicks.
Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Gloria Hicks of East Palo Alto, California and Brenda Hicks Carter and husband Rodic of Tacoma, Washington; one son, Sylvester Johnson of Portland, Oregon; three brothers, James Goodwin of Tacoma, Washington, Louis Hicks and wife Pauline of Beckville, Texas, and Ralph Hicks and wife Nelva of Beckville, Texas; four sisters, Desser Mae Green of Tacoma, Washington, Bennie Lee Jackson of Tacoma, Washington, Louise Shepard of Beckville, Texas, and Cleo Campbell and husband William of Dallas, Texas; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a wealth of good friends also survive Mr. Hicks.
