Patsy Langford, age 73, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Monday morning, June 1, 2026, in Rockwall, Texas.
Patsy Jean Milam was born on July 16, 1952, in Carthage to the late Jonah Benjamin “J.B.” and Bennie Faye Youngblood Milam. She graduated from Carthage High School with the Class of 1970 and later earned her cosmetology certificate from Panola College.
On December 28, 1973, she married the love of her life, Steve Arnold Langford, in Carthage. Together they shared nearly 52 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on December 11, 2025.
Patsy worked as a hairdresser for many years before opening and operating a daycare business, where she lovingly cared for countless children until her retirement. A lifelong Baptist, she had a deep love for her faith and for serving the Lord. Throughout the years, wherever she and Steve attended church, Patsy faithfully taught Sunday school and children's church classes and sang in the choir. Her servant's heart and dedication to her church family touched many lives. In 2005, Patsy and Steve returned to Carthage. Later they became members of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued serving and worshiping alongside her church family.
Among her many interests, Patsy enjoyed collecting ceramic chickens, a hobby that reflected her warm and cheerful personality. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmom, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she affectionately called her “Little Chicks.” Known for keeping her household running smoothly, Patsy's humorous "weapon of choice" was a fly swatter, a detail her family will always remember with a smile. By every measure, Patsy exemplified the qualities of a virtuous woman, living a life marked by kindness, faith, and love for others.
Those who knew her will forever remember the special phrase she shared at the close of family gatherings. Whenever it was time to say goodbye, Patsy would smile and say, “Cock-a-Doodle-Doo, I Love You.” Those simple words became a treasured expression of her affection and will remain a lasting memory for all who loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Langford and Scott Langford; grandchildren, Carson, Jake, Anniston, Cannon, and Easton Langford; brothers, Craig Milam and wife Dayna and Mark Milam; niece, Mandy Harris; nephews, Randy Milam and wife Kristen, Mitch Milam, and Clint Williams; and niece, Katie Jo Davis and husband Mitch.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Chappell and Bro. Jared Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Carson Langford, Clint Williams, Mitch Davis, Jake Langford, James Hugh Browning, Keith Williams, Cannon Langford, and Easton Langford.
