Funeral services for Mrs. Pansy Betty Hollar, age 78, of Longview, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. on Friday until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hollar passed away on Tuesday afternoon, December 15, 2009, in Longview after a lengthy illness.

Pansy Betty Brewster Hollar was born on June 4, 1931, in the Del Ray Community of Panola County, Texas to Gussie and Maggie Beatrice Lawrence Brewster. Her first five years of schooling were in a little one-room school house on the grounds of Walton Cemetery. Later, they consolidated with Carthage Schools where she graduated with the class of 1949. Betty never met a stranger and always had a big smile on her face and if you were in a bad mood she could soon have you laughing. She was generous, almost to a fault, compassionate and had a heart that was filled with love. She married Steward Hollar on October 29, 1955, in Shreveport. As Steward was shipped from base to base, Betty had this uncanny ability to get a good job in a matter of days. One of her first jobs was with the Marshall News Messenger and her last job was with Stewart Regional Blood Center of Longview, where she worked for 15 years, until her retirement. For the past 6 or 7 years of her life, Steward provided for her every need. Even though she was bed ridden, each week, when the time came, he lifted her from her bed, dressed her, and carried her to her beautician. Mrs. Hollar was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Johnnie Maurine Pellham; and two brothers, Lenvol Allen Brewster and Freddie Hugh Vaughn Brewster.

Mrs. Hollar is survived by her husband of 54 years and the love of her life, Steward Hollar of Longview; one son, Keith Hollar and wife Michele of Fort Worth; one granddaughter who was the light of her life, Meredith Hollar of Fort Worth; three sisters, Elizabeth Anne Heard and Jerri Linda Tompkins both of Carthage and Freddie Nell "Cookie" Steel of Longview; and one brother, Jackie Lynn Brewster and wife Jere of Longview.

Serving as pallbearers are Steve Holland, Tim Holland, Alfred Posey, Walter Parker, and Sam Lewis.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Carthage High School class of 1949.
