Obituary

Ovid Blanchard Evans, 80, of River Hill, DeBerry, TX, passed away on Monday evening, May 16, 2016, in Tyler. He was born on July 17, 1935, in Panola County to the late Robert Blanchard and Gladys Lawrence Evans. Ovid loved dominoes, was a member of the Sabine Riding Club, and was affiliated with the Inter-Community Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. Ovid was also preceded in death by sisters, Frankie and Francis Evans; brother, Dale Evans; and daughter, Wendy Matheson.

Survivors include brothers, Robbie Evans and wife Joy of Gladewater, Samuel Evans and wife Wanda of Whitehouse, Dennis Evans and wife Angela of Bryan, and Jimmy Evans and wife Risa of Elysian Fields; sisters, Lanell Jernigan of Panola, Margie Barrington of Burr Oak, MI, and Brenda Hutto and husband Bill of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Kat Evans of Marshall; grandchildren, Cody and Brittany Walker; great-grandchildren, Faith LeAnn Parker and Leah Jean Walker.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Duane Turner officiating. The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
