"Les" Bice

Oswald L.M. "Les" Bice, Jr. , 95, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday night, Dec. 13, 2018, in Carthage. He was born on July 9, 1923, in Ardmore, OK to the late Oswald L.M. Bice, Sr. and Mary Owens Bice. Les served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He married Thelma Pauline Godwin on Oct. 9, 1959, in Carthage and she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2013. Mr. Bice worked as a printer at the Panola Watchman and later at Watchman Office Supply. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Mr. Bice moved to Carthage in 1946, from Denver City, TX. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage where he attended the Berean Sunday School Class. Les was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jessie Mae Shipp and his sister, Violet Lucille Garrett.
He is survived by sons, Floyd Wayne Bice of Longview and Rondal James Amburn and wife Sally of Carthage; daughters, Donna Jean Earley and husband Dale of Haughton, LA and Marsharie Reed of Greenwood, LA; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in DeBerry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Bice's grandsons.
