Obituary
A funeral service for Mrs. Oretha Maines Jeffress, age 90, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Carthage with Rev. Bobby Earl Moore and Rev. Bruce Will officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Jeffress passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2013, in Marshall.
Oretha Maines Jeffress was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in the Del Ray Community of Panola County, TX to the late Phillip and Macy Clare Watson Maines. She graduated from Beckville High School. Mrs. Jeffress married Roy Douglas Jeffress and together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage before his death on March 24, 2004. She loved to travel and enjoyed making candy for others. Mrs. Jeffress lived her lifetime in Panola County and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Boothe; three brothers, Kenneth, Billy, and Reuben Maines; one sister, Louzell Bonner; one grandson, Ryan Johnson; and one son-in-law, Bailey Thompson.
Mrs. Jeffress is survived by one son, Dean Jeffress and wife Jane of Carthage; three daughters, Patricia Bertram and husband Rodney of Longview, Camie Thompson of Carthage, and Macy Johnson and husband Ray of Carthage; 10 grandchildren, Jada Beaver and husband Steve, Tod Boothe, Deana Pruett and husband Chris, Jennifer Sawyer and husband Todd, Cammy Altman and husband Jim, Courtney Shelton and husband Jeff, Phyllis Cammack and husband Chris, Sherry Maxwell and husband Bryan, Ronna Phillips and husband Mark, and Ricky Johnson and wife Jenny; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and special caregiver and friend, Betty Olliff.
Serving as pallbearers are Steve Beaver, Chris Pruett, Todd Sawyer, Jim Altman, Jeff Shelton, Chris Cammack, Bryan Maxwell, and Mark Phillips.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Ricky Johnson and Tod Boothe.
