Oma Lee McDaniel, 82, of Marshall, TX formerly of Carthage, TX, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 8, 2019, in Marshall. Oma Lee Laird McDaniel was born on May 10, 1936, in Monette, Ark. to the late George Curtis and Evelyn Jewel Gauf Laird. She married James Shirley McDaniel on Nov. 12, 1952, in Truman, Ark. and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1998. Mrs. McDaniel owned and operated Mrs. Mac's Gro. in the Antioch Community of Panola County, TX for many years until her retirement. She loved flowers, quilting, and crocheting. She was a former member of the Carthage Church of Christ. In 2006, she moved to Marshall and became a member of the Marshall Church of Christ. Mrs. McDaniel was also preceded in death by a son, James Earl "Jim" McDaniel and numerous siblings.
Survivors include her son, Kenny McDaniel and wife Mary of Carthage; daughter, Karen Hampton and husband Mark of Marshall; brothers, J.L. and Dale Laird; sisters, Sue Holliman, Linda Jensen, and Glenda Evans; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Charles Ray Barber, Charlie Clements, David Lawless, Bruce Maines, Steve Mills, and Gary Smith.
