Funeral services for Mr. Dan Beard, age 53 of Beckville, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Beard passed away on Wednesday evening, July 2, 2008 at his home in Beckville.

Olen Daniel Beard was born on November 1, 1954 in Athens, Texas to Odie James and Agnes Lucille Hudson Beard. Mr. Beard served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He had lived most of his life in Panola County were he worked in the oilfield service industry as an operator. He loved hunting, fishing, and working with his tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Wayne Beard.

Mr. Beard is survived by his wife, Tammy Pritchett Beard of Beckville; two step-children, April Marie Riley and James Lee Riley both of Marshall; one step-grandson, Matthew Cullen Riley of Marshall; two brothers, Chris Beard and wife Delma of Carthage and Tony Eugene Beard of Kosse; and two sisters, Darlene Rhiddlehoover and husband Mark of Carthage and Beth Abbott and husband Rickey of Murchison.

Serving as pallbearers are Roy Rhiddlehoover, James Riley, Joel L. Chavez, Juan Avalos, Jody Youngblood, and Manuel Montes. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bobby Cariker, Tony Pierce, Tracey Pritchett, Noah Kennedy, Freddy Armstrong, Gary Seegers, and Steve Metcalf.
