Memorial services for Mr. Norman Alvin Williams, age 89, of Tatum, TX will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shannon Hahn officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mr. Williams passed away on Friday night, June 11, 2010, in Longview.

Norman Alvin Williams was born on Nov. 14, 1920, in Beckville, TX to Amos Williams and Iva Helvenston Williams. He was very active, serving on the Tatum School Board for 9 years. Mr. Williams was a member of Tatum U.M.C. where he served in many positions and was also active with the Tatum Interchurch Ministry (TIMS). He was a member and served on the Executive Board of IBEW, Local 324 (International Brotherhood Electrical Workers). Mr. Williams served in the U. S. Air Force, 312th. Bomb Group, serving in the Philippians from 1942-1945 and was honorably discharged. He was also a member of VFW #08535. He retired as a foreman for L.E. Meyers Electrical Contractors, working there for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William N. Williams; and a sister, Reba Shipman.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Marie Brown Williams; two sons, Norman Dennis Williams and wife Florinda and David Brown Williams and wife Paula all of Tatum; 5 grandchildren, Paul David Williams of Longview, Wendy Marie Williams of Tatum, Brooks Williams of Henderson, Kristina Marie Williams of Tatum, and Veronica Viesca of Tyler; and 2 great-grandchildren Baylor and Paisley Williams of Tatum.
