Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Norman Rollins, age 77, of Beckville, Texas, will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Bethel C.M.E. Church, 167 Monroe St., Beckville, TX 75631 with Rev. Smith officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, 1131 SH 149, Carthage, TX 75633. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Bethel Cemetery, 2371 F.M. 124 East, Beckville, TX 75631. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Rollins passed away on Tuesday night, August 18, 2009, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Norman Rollins was born on July 20, 1932, in Beckville to J. P. and Ora Williams Rollins. He graduated from Sunset High School in Beckville. Mr. Rollins served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married Mary Lee Sneed and she preceded him in death. Mr. Rollins worked as a plumber until his retirement. He was a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church in Beckville. Mr. Rollins was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sam McKinney, Joseph Williams, and Luther Earl Williams; and one sister, Annie Faye Rollins.

Mr. Rollins is survived by two sons, Rodney Rollins and wife Commece and Anthony Ray Rollins and wife Scharlene; two daughters, Annette Sneed and husband Cedric Ridley and Brendolyn Rollins all of Dallas; three brothers, Thomas Williams of Beckville, Isaiah Williams and wife Mary of Carthage, and Otis Crawford of California; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Quincy N. Jinks, Joshua Jinks, Timmy Adams, Robert W. Adams, James Pruitt, and Charles Williams.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rodney L. Rollins, Anthony Ray Rollins, Ira Jinks, Derek D. McKinney, Duncan E. McKinney, Orrin L. McKinney, Raydell Rollins, LeMichaeleon Williams, and Robert Williams.
