Noma Lorene "Rene" Pierce age, 87 of Carthage, passed away on May 31, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Wichita, KS. She moved from Houston to Carthage in late 1970's to teach at Panola Baptist Temple and she also owned her own daycare business, Happy Note Daycare, in Carthage. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, B.H. during his long haul trips as a truck driver. Rene was a current member Liberty Chapel Baptist Church in Carthage. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.H. Pierce; parents, George and Jewel Prentice; brothers, G.R. Prentice and Leland Prentice; and sons, Barry Pierce and David Pierce.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Toon Pinkston of Carthage, Jack Robison of Mineola, Roger Robison of Carthage, Kay Prentice of Carthage, Mary Ann Jolley of Center, Dennis Pierce of Evant, TX, and Daryl Pierce of Smithville, TX; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family, church family, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Rene had a giving spirit and was a true angel on earth.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Mutina officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
