Funeral services for Mrs. Nita Henson, age 71 of Tatum, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Freddy Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Millville Baptist Church Cemetery in the Oak Hill Community. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Henson passed away on Sunday night, December 24, 2006 in Longview, Texas.
Nita Lee Lonneberg Henson was born on October 8, 1935 in Houston, Texas to Paul and Ada O. Mahoney Lonneberg. She married James E. "Jim" Henson on November 1, 1952 in Burnet, Texas. Mrs. Henson was a military wife, traveling often and she and her husband were stationed in England and in the United States. Mrs. Henson had lived in Tatum since 1980 moving from Pearland. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away on January 17, 2005, daughter, Rita Kay Henson, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Henson is survived by one son, James Lee Henson and wife Lucy of Marshall; one daughter, Brenda Kay Valentine and husband Jimmy of Tatum; two sisters, Virginia Bailey and husband Thomas of Wetumpka, Alabama and Faye Holstine and husband Byron of North Glen, Colorado; five grandchildren, April Carswell and husband Steve, Jennifer Bryce and husband Joey, Brittney Henson, Dylan Henson, and Leslie Henson; five great-grandchildren, Ashton Dugie, Jimmy Dugie, Shelby Dugie, Haley Bryce, and Dustie Bryce.
Serving as pallbearers are Joey Bryce, Carroll Valentine, Ben Valentine, Wayne Bagwell, Jerry Lonneberg, Bruce Haygood, and Donnie Bryce.
The family invites friends and family to come to Brenda's Kountry Kitchen on Highway 43 near Tatum after the graveside service for coffee and refreshments.
