Funeral services for Mrs. Nina Leona Paulk Hill, age 97, of Carthage, TX will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hill passed away on Friday morning, June 4, 2010, near Carthage.
Nina Leona Paulk Hill was born on Sept. 14, 1912, in Palacious, TX to Daniel Decator and Viola Virginia Evans Paulk. She graduated from Palacious High School and attended Sam Houston State Teacher's College. Mrs. Hill married Willard Verrall Hill on June 1, 1934, and he preceded her in death on Apr. 10, 2008. She worked as a clerk at the drug store in Pearland until her retirement and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hill was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Pearland. She moved to Pearland in 1938, and moved to the Antioch Community in 2002, where she was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Hill was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson; six sisters; and one brother.
Mrs. Hill is survived by one son, George Daniel Hill and wife Myrtice of Waller; one daughter, LaVerle Spurgeon and husband Earl of Carthage; two sisters, Love Joy Kubeczka and husband Alex of Alvin and Dixie Lee Lowry and husband George of Centerville; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Paulk of Arlington, Kathryn McGuire of Houston, and Louise Hill of Houston; 6 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild.
Serving as pallbearers are Bill Spurgeon, Dan Hill, Jim Hill, Don Gibson, Rodney Nolen, and Chris Bird.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Worthy, Joe Ben Wooten, Tommy Holmes, Jerry Peace, George Lowery, Alex Kubeczka, and Eddie Turner.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Hill's sitters, Izora Graves, Robin Downing, Ruby Jackson, and Celeste Hays and the entire staff and nurses of Heart's Way Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs.
Hill during her latter years.
