Nina Bowers, 99, of Carthage, passed away on Friday morning, March 9, 2018, at her home near Carthage. Nina Wooley was born on Jan. 25, 1919, in Panola County to the late R.B. and Winnie Salter Wooley. She married Earl Bowers in 1937, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1989. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mike Bowers and all of her siblings.

Survivors include daughters, Earlene Jacks and husband Dickie of Clayton and Joy Simms and husband Terry of Nacogdoches; daughter-in-law, Judy Bowers of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Michele Hatton and husband James, Jennifer Moser and husband Roger, Scott Bowers and wife Adriana, Dean Jacks and wife Karen, Jon Jacks, Samantha Simms, Terry Simms and wife Kim, and Todd Simms; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Linebarger officiating. Interment will follow in Old Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Dean Jacks, Jon Jacks, Todd Simms, Scott Bowers, James Arlis Wooley and David Wooley.

Honorary pallbearer is Joe Wooley.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Sonja Gulley and Montana Jones, for the loving care shown to Mrs. Bowers.
