Funeral services Mr. Carl King, age 76 of the Woods Community, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church in Carthage with Reverend Carl Williams officiating. A military graveside service will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. King passed away on Thursday morning, June 12, 2008 at his home in the Woods Community.

Newton Carlisle King, Jr. was born on March 26, 1932 in Long Beach, California to Newton Carlisle King, Sr. and May Williams King. He graduated from Bakersfield High School. Mr. King served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring in 1971. He married Mary Ann Thompson on June 29, 1957 in Lubbock, Texas. Mr. King had lived in the Woods Community since 2005, moving from Round Rock, Texas. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Carthage.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Mary Ann King of the Woods Community; one son, Dennis King of Pflugerville; two daughters, Terrie Mae King of the Woods Community and Charlotte Ann Malan of Taylor; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
