Obituary
A funeral service for Mrs. Neva Martin, age 82, of Beckville, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kim Hagedorn officiating. Interment will follow in Martin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Martin passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2013, at her home in Beckville.
Neva Mary Pruitt Martin was born on July 23, 1930, in Beckville, TX to William Craig and Lola Mae Barlow Pruitt. She graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1947. Mrs. Martin married Hugh Kirkley Martin on May 1, 1948, at the home of Rev. Jameson in Tatum, TX. She worked in clothing manufacturing for many years. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Goodtime Quilters, the Oil Patch R.V. Club, and the former Harris Chapel Community Club. She lived most of her life in Beckville and was a member of the Beckville United Methodist Church where she formerly served on the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, J.W. Pruitt.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Hugh Martin of Beckville; one son, Jeff Martin and wife Maureen of Flower Mound; one daughter, Melinda Qualls and husband Jimmy of Beckville; one sister, Barbara Johnson and husband Joe of Lake Cherokee; five grandchildren, Wendy Barton and husband Bud, Jamie Dailey and husband Charlie, Arabella, Sullivan, and Brandon Martin; three great-grandchildren, Madyson and Billy Dailey and Bryce Barton; three sisters-in-law, Anna Martin, Pegge Martin, and Virginia Pruitt. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends also survive Mrs. Martin.
Serving as pallbearers are Dan Martin, Steve Lewis, Greg Pruitt, Paul Guidroz, Kent Johnson and Keith Williams. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Goodtime Quilters and the Oil Patch R.V. Club.
