A private family service for Mrs. Nelva Kathleen Singletary Nicholson, age 86, of Carthage, TX, formerly of Nacogdoches, TX, will be held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery Mausoleum in Lufkin, TX. Mrs. Nicholson passed away on Monday morning, May 2, 2011, in Carthage.

Nelva Kathleen Singletary Nicholson was born on May 11, 1924, in Carthage, TX, to Hollis Daniel and Carrie Lou Davis Singletary. She attended Carthage schools. Mrs. Nicholson married Douglas Lloyd "Nick" Nicholson on June 11, 1943, in Arlington, TX and he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1990. She moved to Carthage in 1995, from Nacogdoches and was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Mrs. Nicholson was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one brother.

Mrs. Nicholson is survived by one daughter, Deborah Rowe and husband Johnny of Grapevine; two sons, Douglas Lloyd Nicholson, Jr. and wife S.J. of Austin and Terry F. Nicholson and wife Olga of Corinth; five grandchildren, Tyler and Brent Nicholson, Donna Brennan, Angela Metcalf, and Craig Rowe; three nieces, Gale Parker and Patsy Groves of Carthage, and Cynthia Clerc of Austin; and one sister-in-law, Marie Singletary of Carthage.
