Nellie Summers, 76, passed away on Sunday night, Sept. 16, 2018. She was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Waskom to the late Bill and Mary Hendricks Philpot. She attended Waskom schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waskom. Mrs. Summers married Carroll DeWayne Summers, Sr. on Apr. 18, 1958, in Jefferson. She volunteered for many years as an Al-Anon teacher and sponsor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll Dewayne Summers, Sr. on May 13, 1998; son, Johnny Paul Summers on Feb. 17, 2016; brother, John Edward Philpot; and a great-grandchild, Ashton Searcy.

Survivors include her children, Mary Heath and husband George, Carroll DeWayne Summers, Jr., Terry Lynn Inkster, Sherry Ann Posey and husband Roni, Amanda Adams and husband Jeremy, and Larry Wayne Summers; siblings, Myrtle Ruth Maxey, Andrew Philpot, Tommy Lee Philpot and wife Pam, Bobby Ray Philpot, Annie Mae Britt and husband Sam, Billie Mack Philpot and wife Kim; sister-in-law, Delores Philpot; grandchildren, Amy, Christy, G.W., David, Alesha, Johnathon, Cameron, Levi, Melanie, J.J., Jacy, Tommy, and Jamie;   great-grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Steven J., Austin, Mason, Mylee, Ali, Eli, Madison, Preston, Clayton, and Colton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 19, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Lopez officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Waskom. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Steve Searcy, G.W. Heath, David Summers, Tommy Adams, Levi Inkster, Johnathon Summers, Roni Posey, Sonny Burns, and Kirk Hoelscher. Honorary pallbearer is Eli Beccera.
